William P. Noonan
Hospital Board Central District, At Large, Seat 1
William “Bill” Noonan was appointed in April 2016 to the Sarasota County Public Hospital Board’s Central District Seat 1. Noonan previously served as community representative on the Hospital Board’s Finance Committee, a volunteer position he assumed in 2014.
Born and raised in New Jersey, Noonan was hired by IBM after graduating from Villanova University in Pennsylvania with a degree in electrical engineering. During his 30-plus years with IBM in New Jersey and Boston, he served in a number of executive roles, including global sales operations manager and global program manager for incentive planning. During his career at IBM, Noonan also completed the IBM Cambridge Programme at Cambridge University, Cambridge, England. After retiring from IBM in 2004, Noonan joined Novell, a $1B global enterprise software company, ultimately serving as senior director for global field operations. His many areas of expertise include business and financial management; HR and executive management; process design, implementation and improvement; and sales and marketing.
Noonan has been active in the community since he and his wife, Candace, moved to Sarasota in 2012. He has served as vice-president and president of the Deer Creek Community Association’s Board of Directors and as community representative on the Palmer Ranch Master Association. His background includes prior public service as a Boys and Girls Club Board Member (MA) and a United Way Campaign Account Executive (MA). He also is a ministry volunteer at Saint Thomas More Church in Sarasota..
